SHROUD
A shroud is a last embrace.
In Belgium, it's possible to be buried or cremated
in a shroud.
The use of a shroud is an age-old custom.
Covered in soft fabric instead of a coffin,
the body is given back to nature.
Everyone dies.
However, in our culture death is often tucked away.
A shroud is a natural way of saying goodbye,
without hiding.
You cover your loved one, one last time.
A close connection.
Space is given to intimacy and affection.
It reduces the distance between then and now, the here and there.
STANDARD VERSION:
1. 3 women's arms and 3 men's arms are embroidered on this shroud.
2. The palms of 2 male hands are depicted on the pillow inside,
this is where the head of the deceased is laid down.
3. The 2 children's hands
(or very small women's hands)
are the upper hands of the
shroud, covering the head.
delivery: immediatly available
The shroud is made from belgian wool.
Each arm represents a loved one.
